Lost and Found: The Harry Langdon Collection

In August I was approached by some composer friends--founders of The Snark Ensemble , and was asked if I would be interested in doing the audio sync for a project of theirs. Three composers here in Washington DC were recruited by David Kalat of All Day Entertainment to compose original musical scores to the short films of Harry Langdon, to appear on a 4-DVD boxed set to be released next month. My job was initially to sync the finished recordings with quicktime video files in Pro Tools. As a recent entrant into the world of Digial Audio Production, I eagerly signed on with the project.

The first two films, which appeared at Slapsticon 2007, were well-received. It was really great to sit in a theatre and be witness to others' reactions to the films--I thought they were histerical, but was it just me? I was delighted to learn that the material really was good.

Due in-part to a crazy recording schedule, I was invited to do all the audio editing for the remaining ten films. I eagerly accepted. Another composer friend actually did the mastering on the project, once I finished the final edits.

Three months of intensive work later, we shipped the final tracks to David in Chicago, for him to put the audio. Here's the link to the collection on Amazon. Lost and Found is due out the day after Christmas this year. I can't wait.

The Beaglebot Challenge

* * * Hugh2d2 is an adult… where’s his pie!?!?
Hugh2d2> Ok… maybe I use “adult” too liberally.
Hugh2d2> I’m of age anyway
!! Theatre73 is around.
* * * crataegus wants pie.
beaglebot> being an adult sadly also means that overall you have to go buy your own pie

***

here’s my challenge to everyone today:

Buy someone pie.
Doesn’t matter who. I think it would be cooler if it’s someone who wouldn’t expect it but just buy someone pie.

Do it.

No One Ever Does

Memories are like promises that are seldom kept.
Hence, why Jesus wept.
Every day, We are torn away from the one we love.
There’s no God above.
Only if you would spend your gift to uphold the truth of just me and you.
And we represent all the time we’ve spent getting to this day.
There’s no other way.
Aren’t we whom we claim to be the descendents of, whom we place above?
We must place within and slowly begin to love.

No one ever does.

Suddenly, who I thought was me was not me at all and I feel so small.
Sitting way beneath who I want to be.
I don’t want to be who I’ve grown to be.
Only if I might somehow riff on the way before, let it be some more.
Lift me from this floor.
If I can’t walk I’ll crawl to love.

No one ever does.
